Einsatzhafen Bad Wörishofen

Runway: grass flying field

Einsatzhafen Bad Wörishofen was a Luftwaffe airfield northeast of the town Bad Wörishofen, south of Erfurt, Bavaria.
The airfield was built as a glider field in 1934, but was converted to a Luftwaffe airfield in 1936-1938. The airfield received a complete makeover, with hangars, barracks, messes and workshops. It was ready for use in 1938, and received a railway connection to the new fuel depot the following year.
Initially used as a training airfield the Einsatzhafen became a wartime operational field during the war. It became a wartime dispersal site for I./KG 51 "Edelweiß" stationed at Landsberg/Lech from 1 May 1939.

After the war the former airfield became a residential area to Bad Wörishofen called Gartenstadt (City of gardens). Some buildings still exist, although they have been altered over time. The former Fliegerhorstcommandantur for instance can be found at the Alpenstraße.
